Russell M. Nelson, prophet and leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, celebrated his 100th birthday on 9th September 2024. He continues to lead the global faith with energy and compassion.

Many have shared their experiences of being “the one” and helping “the one” on social media, using hashtag #99plus1.

All rights reserved.On the 5th and 6th of October, the 100-year-old prophet will share messages of hope, peace, and love in the Church’s General Conference, a worldwide gathering of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. All are invited to participate in the conference sessions that originate from the Church’s 21,000-seat Conference Center in Salt Lake City in the United States and are streamed and broadcast live in more than 70 languages.
One highly anticipated feature of General Conference is the possible announcement of new temples to be built around the world. Under the direction of President Nelson, the global Church’s temple building has gone forward at a rapid pace. Since becoming president of the Church of Jesus Christ in January 2018, President Nelson has announced the locations for new temples at every General Conference.
Several new temples throughout the Europe North Area have been announced over that period, in Oslo, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Praia. At a time when some churches are closing their doors, the Church of Jesus Christ is adding sacred structures to meet the needs of faithful followers everywhere.
