What: The first ever British Pageant by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! This is a cultural celebration through performance of the Mormons’ history in the United Kingdom.
Who: Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or the Mormons, are putting on a pageant in celebration of their history. All participants are volunteers. Over the past several months, they have spent hours of their time outside of their regular responsibilities to memorize speaking parts and to learn the dances and music.
When: The first performance is 31 July 2013 and will go until 9 August in Chorley, England on the grounds of the Preston Temple.
Why: Church members feel that participating in this performance is a real privilege to honour the pioneers of faith that went before them. “It’s a story of faith. It’s a story of courage. Ultimately it’s a story of sacrifice. It’s a story that we are proud to present, because it is our story. By “our” I don’t just mean Mormons, I mean it’s the story of the British people through the centuries,” said Stephen Kerr, President of the Pageant.
