As part of the weekend a number of historical displays were prepared showing the history of the Church in the Fife area. The Open House also included family history workshops, service projects, a display of the full time missionaries who have served from the area, the burial of a time capsule and many other displays. The youth had spent the previous months interviewing some of the senior members of the congregation about their early church experiences. A presentation titled ‘Joining the Generations’ was created from this and shown as part of the Open House. A number of local dignitaries attended and received a tour of the building and presentation about the local history of the Church. The first LDS missionary to bring the restored Gospel to the Fife area was Elder George D. Watt (he was also the first member baptised in UK) and one of his direct line descendants, Sister Watt, who is currently serving in the Scotland Ireland Mission, attended the Open House, connecting our past with our future.
At the special Sacrament meeting the current bishop, Grant King and area Church leader, Dundee Stake President Daryl Watson, spoke and encouraged members to remember the sacrifices of those who went before them, and to look to the future with hope and faith as they hasten the work of salvation in the Kirkcaldy area. Over the weekend many friendships were formed, renewed and strengthened.
