Lamb of God is a musical work written and composed by Rob Gardner for choir and orchestra. It is based on New Testament accounts of key events of Christ's life told through the eyes of His disciples, including His triumphant entry into Jerusalem, and His atonement and resurrection
In 2015, young adults of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and friends from across the British Isles performed this sacred work. Ten years later, the production is returning to the United Kingdom for another powerful performance.
Following the events of the Easter story, Lamb of God portrays the teachings and miracles performed by the Saviour during the final days of his ministry through music and the spoken word. The music will be performed by a 100-person choir and full orchestra, comprised of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and friends from across the UK and Ireland.
The musical performance will be preceded by a mixed arts exhibition, entitled ‘Life of Christ’. Both amateur and professional artists from across the UK have been commissioned to create work based on five different themes taken from Jesus’ life. The exhibition will be accessible for 90 minutes before each performance.
The performances and exhibition will be held at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th March 2025 – with a 7.30pm performance on both evenings and a 2.30pm matinee performance on the Saturday.
Jacob, a choir member of Lamb of God in 2015 said: “I feel that the knowledge I gained of the Saviour’s life, and the feelings I gained for Him as a result of participating in Lamb of God would have taken me so much longer to acquire on my own. I’m grateful that I got to participate in the rehearsals and the culminating performances, which provided me with a love for Jesus Christ that has only grown in the years since.”
And Melissa, who was part of the 2015 orchestra said: “As a violinist, there are not a lot of opportunities to play sacred music, and it was so wonderful to be introduced to such a powerful musical rendition of the last week of the Saviour's life. It was a privilege to be involved in such a high-quality performance. Many members of my family, some of who are not members, really enjoyed the music and were touched by the spirit it brought.”
