Manchester Dignitaries attend Concert in aid of Local Charities

Local dignitaries recently joined members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, to take part in a Christmas concert that benefited community charities.

Councillor Brenda Warrington, Mayor of Tameside, and deputy mayors from Oldham and Bury combined with members of the Church to aid four local charities.  ‘Threshold Kids’ from Oldham, ‘Rochdale Childer’, The ‘Tameside Women’s Refuge’ and the Rotary Club of Chadderton and Failsworth each received one hundred gifts to benefit the less fortunate children in the Greater Manchester area.

The Church’s Ashton Stake president, Kevin Fletcher, said he was delighted with the response of the local congregations and their efforts to remember the true meaning of Christmas and to honour the birth of the Saviour by thinking of those in need.  The dignitaries expressed their delight in having attended the concert and were presented with framed nativity scenes stitched by the Church’s local young women.
