Serving as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints can present a wide range of service opportunities. Recently, missionaries in the Manchester area were involved in a project at St Bernard’s RC Primary School in Burnage, where they were asked to paint classrooms and corridors, ready for the pupils returning in September.
Matt Robinson, who is a member of the church and also a teacher at the school, became aware of the school’s need and offered the help of the missionaries and others. In total, around 30 people got involved in the paint project, much to the delight of Headteacher, Fiona Maguire, who was very impressed with the results and the number of people who turned up to help. Other members of staff commented that the work that was completed was a great help and that the helpers were so friendly and polite.
Serving as a missionary for the church is a great way to become involved in the local community and provide meaningful service to others.
