Mormon Apostle visited Germany, Cape Verde and The Netherlands

Elder Ronald A. Rasband of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints visited Germany, the Netherlands and Cape Verde from April 11–22, 2018.

In Cape Verde Elder Rasband met with the President of Cape Verde, Jorge Carlos Fonseca and gave an interview that was aired during the main news program of Cape Verde’s national television.

Besides meetings with members and missionaries during his time in these three countries, he visited humanitarian service projects of the Church in Cape Verde.

Europe Area President Paul V. Johnson accompanied Elder Rasband for the visit to Berlin and to Cape Verde.

“I am very excited about Elder Rasband’s visit to Europe especially in light of the recent changes announced at general conference. He met with many priesthood and auxiliary leaders and helped us move forward in ministering to the great people in Europe in a more powerful way. It is a great blessing to have one of the Lord’s apostles in Europe”, said President Johnson.

The Church was first introduced in Cape Verde in 1989 and has since grown to a total of 14,000 members. In Germany, the Church dates all the way back to 1843 and has more than 40,000 members total. In the Netherlands, the Church counts more than 9,000 members. The first Dutch congregation was organized in 1862.
