The public is invited to tour the first temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in France. Church leaders announced the Paris France Temple will be open for a free public open house from Saturday, April 22nd to Saturday, May 13th 2017, excluding Sundays.
The temple, located in Le Chesnay, will be formally dedicated on Sunday, May 21st 2017. There will also be a cultural celebration featuring music and dance performances by local Mormon youth on Saturday, May 20th 2017.
Church president Thomas S. Monson announced the Church’s intention of building a temple on the outskirts of Paris in July 2011.
Latter-day Saint temples differ from churches where members meet for Sunday worship services. Temples are considered “houses of the Lord” where the teachings of Jesus Christ are reaffirmed through marriage, baptism and other ceremonies that unite families for eternity. There are currently 152 operating temples of the Church worldwide with 25 more announced or under construction, including the Paris France Temple.
