Mayor of Kettering attends Popular Christmas Concert

The Mayor of Kettering, Councillor James Hakewill, and his wife the Mayoress, attended the Kettering congregation’s annual Christmas Concert with an audience of around 200. The enthusiastic mixed age choir of around 35 members in the East Midlands area performed  an evening of spiritual and festive songs for the Christmas season.

Members brought their friends and family for this well received and popular annual event which Councillor Hakewill attended last year as deputy mayor and was delighted to be asked again to be a special guest with his wife, the Mayoress.  The Mayor was noted to be smiling and tapping his foot throughout the 1.5 hour performance and commented on the wonderful evening.  The choir consisted of members from age 14 years upwards and involved many hours of practising over the past three months to produce the 16 festive renditions.  The programme also included solos, duets and readings.

A popular reading was an alternative version of 'The Twelve Days of Christmas' performed by member and local teacher, Pamela Parker.  The choir director, Holly Carter,  planned the programme to appeal to a wide range of ages and she was ably supported by James Parker, recently returned from a full-time mission in Las Vegas, Nevada, who accompanied the choir on the piano.
